predictions and red carpet fashion at 91st Academy Awards Oscar.com. The Oscars All Access for a behind the scenes look at red carpet and Oscars 2019: With no host and no Kendrick Lamar, the 2019 Oscars are looking a little bit rocky. But just because it might be a bit of an unusual ceremony doesn’t mean it’ll be bad. At least they agreed to give all of the awards during the actual telecast again.

The Oscars, also known as the Academy Awards, are a set of awards for outstanding achievement in the film industry given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Winners in 24 categories are given a small golden statue to signify their accomplishment.

This year’s embattled production has been beset by a series of missteps — from announcing and scrapping a popular-film category, naming and losing host Kevin Hart and reversing a widely unwelcome decision to announce some of the winners during commercial breaks. Despite all that, the now somewhat crowd-sourced television special will still proceed to honor achievements in film over the past year.

Whether the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences acknowledges its role in the blunders remains to be seen, but we’ve kept up with all the developments and break some of them down below.

The 91st Academy Awards will again be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and will be televised live on ABC at 5 p.m. Pacific. The show usually runs about three hours but can go over, so set those DVRs past 8 p.m. if you really want to know which film won best picture without getting a news alert — or a second news alert correcting a “La La Land”-like blunder.

Oscars-centric programming begins on the network much earlier. “On the Red Carpet at the Oscars” begins at 1:30 p.m. Pacific, and “Oscars Opening Ceremony: Live From the Red Carpet” kicks off at 3:30 p.m.

The Oscars will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide and will also be streamed live in select markets via abc.com or with the ABC app, but will require credentials for a participating TV provider.

Netflix’s Roma leads the pack with 10 nominations, including a Best Picture nod, while Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born is up for eight Oscars, including Best Actor for Cooper, Best Actress for Gaga, Best Supporting Actor for Sam Elliott and Best Original Song for “Shallow.” Bohemian Rhapsody has five nods, including Best Picture, and a Best Actor nomination for Rami Malek, while Green Book earned five nominations as well.

Gaga and Cooper are expected to perform “Shallow” during the Oscars telecast, and producers have also announced performances from Jennifer Hudson, Queen featuring Adam Lambert, and Bette Midler, who will be covering “The Place Where Lost Things Go,” originally performed by Emily Blunt in Mary Poppins Returns. You can stream all the nominated films and songs online here.

For the first time in 30 years, the Oscars will be without a host, and viewers will no doubt be tuning in to see how the emcee-less proceedings play out. The 2019 Academy Awards air live this Sunday, February 24th at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST on ABC. The network is streaming the show on its website, but you’ll have to sign-in with your cable provider or satellite service.

Conversely, you can also sign up with a live TV streaming service and use it to watch the show online, or cast it to your TV. We like Hulu with Live TV, which includes ABC on its channel lineup and lets you stream content from your phone, laptop, tablet or smart TV. Click here to get a 7-day free trial to Hulu, which will get you instant access to the ceremony (Note: streaming sites like Sling TV and fuboTV do not carry ABC at all, so even if you’re signed up on those platforms, you won’t be able to view the show).

What time will the show be over?

11 p.m., although it usually runs at least a few minutes longer.

Who’s the host?

Thanks to the Kevin Hart debacle, the Oscars are going without a host for the first time in 30 years.

Who’s going to win?

In the best picture race? This year, no one really knows: All eight nominees — “A Star Is Born,” “BlacKkKlansman,” “Black Panther,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “The Favourite,” “Green Book,” “Roma” and “Vice” — have won various prizes throughout award season. (The Washington Post’s film critic, Ann Hornaday, thinks “Roma” should take the trophy; see the rest of her picks here.) Some of the acting categories are a bit more predictable, as Rami Malek (actor), Glenn Close (actress), Mahershala Ali (supporting actor) and Regina King (supporting actress) are considered front-runners.

Where can I see the fashion and awkward celebrity interviews?

“E! Live From the Red Carpet: Oscars 2019” (5 to 7:30 p.m.): Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic take their usual spots as co-hosts. ABC has exclusive rights to the red carpet at 7:30.

Speaking of which, ABC’s “Oscars Live on the Red Carpet” kicks off at 6:30 p.m., hosted by TV personality Maria Menounos, journalist Elaine Welteroth, model Ashley Graham and actor Billy Porter. At 7:30, Seacrest will hop over to ABC’s show, given that he’s part of the network as host of “American Idol.” (You can also watch a Twitter live stream of the red carpet here.)

If you want to really get hyped for the show early, both E! and ABC start pre-show coverage at 1 p.m.

What about the after-shows?

“E! After Party: Oscars 2019” (11:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.): A group of correspondents will be live from the Vanity Fair party and the Governor’s Ball, hoping to snag a few celebrity interviews.

The biggest award show of the season has arrived. Hollywood’s elite will flood the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles for the 91st annual Academy Awards on Sunday.

OSCARS 2019 LIVE STREAM Free

Although the 2019 Oscars Awards are set to air live on the ABC network—the ceremony kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday—viewers without access to a TV don’t have to miss out on their favorite actors accepting the highest honors of the night. The entire awards show will be available for watching via live stream on ABC’s website and the ABC app. Movie buffs should note they will need to log in with their cable provider information to access the streams.

Viewers can also get in on all the Hollywood glamour of the night by tuning into The Oscars All Access: Red Carpet Live, which will be exclusively streamed on The Academy’s Twitter page(@TheAcademy). The red carpet show, hosted by Laura Marano, Louis Virtel and Chris Connelly, will cover all the Oscars arrivals, including interviews with Oscars nominees, presenters and performers. The red carpet live stream starts at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Throughout the night some of Hollywood’s biggest stars will not only present and accept awards, but they’ll also be hosting the show too. Unlike previous Oscars ceremonies, which featured one main host of the night, the 91 Academy Awards will have a string of hosts manning the show.

Initially, Kevin Hart was pegged to host the show. Old homophobic tweets Hart wrote in the early 2000s resurfaced shortly after The Academy announced the actor as the 2019 host, sparking instant backlash. Refusing to apologize for the tweets, which Hart said he had already previously apologized for, the comedian decided to step down from the hosting post altogether.

The Academy ultimately chose not to replace Hart, but rather allow a variety of A-listers to present awards. There will also be five musical performances during this year’s Oscars, four of which are nominated for awards.
